The Equipment
I use one of two massage tables or a "desk topper"
or a seated massage chair during therapeutic massage sessions.
The desk topper is similar to a seated massage chair, but it is only the
"top half". It sits on a desk or table top, and provides
support to the upper body and head. Unlike full seated massage
chairs, the desk topper allows clients to sit in a regular chair or simply
to roll up to the equipment in a wheelchair. This device works
beautifully for people who have mobility problems or who find the full
seated massage chairs to be too awkward or too difficult on the
knees. It's also ideal for office work, as it is very compact and
can be moved easily from office to office so that the massage can be given
in the comfort of one's own private space.

My primary mobile massage table is manufactured by StrongLite, and is rated to
support weights of up to 325 pounds. It's a
large table; 31" x 74", and can be raised (to 35") or lowered
(to 22") as needed. The
extension legs are double-secured by two bolts on each leg, providing
additional stability, and can be removed entirely to
accommodate transfers to/from a wheelchair. It has a removable
headrest which is extra-padded for client comfort. (For "tight
spaces" such as offices and hotels, I also have a smaller table with
the headrest built into the body of the table.)
This is in my usual working position, with legs double-secured:
And this is in the lowest position, with the legs removed:

The table can be adjusted as needed to accommodate the needs of clients
with mobility limitations:

My seated massage chair is manufactured by EarthLight, and it's
great for fitting into cramped spaces in homes and offices.... and it's so
unobtrusive that it won't even bother your pets!!

This extra-wide motorized table is rated to 600 pounds and lowers to 18 inches to facilitate transfers AND to allow me the
leverage I need for deep work!
